Exemplaire sur un petit flan étroit, bien centré des deux côtés. Beau portrait. Frappe un peu molle au revers. Usure régulière. Patine marron foncé

Obverse description : Buste lauré consulaire à gauche vu de trois quarts en avant, tenant le scipio de la main droite (H*2).
Obverse translation : "Constantinus Iunior Nobilissimus Cæsar", (Constantin le jeune très noble césar).

Reverse description : Globe posé sur un autel surmonté de trois étoiles.
Reverse translation : “Beata Tranquillitas/ Votis vicennalibus”, (L'heureuse tranquillité/ Vœux pour le vingtième anniversaire de règne).

Commentary


Poids léger. Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. La toga palmata (manteau consulaire) est ornée de palmettes. Le buste est orné d’une grande tête de Méduse, un peu plate.
Lightweight. Type 3 ribbons with rounded ends. The toga palmata (consular mantle) is decorated with palmettes. The bust is decorated with a large, slightly flat head of Medusa.

Caesar

Born in February 317 according to the most recent chronology, Constantine the Younger receives on coins the title of Caesar like his half-brother Crispus and his cousin Licinius, as well as the title of Prince of Youth. Constantine II is the eldest son of Constantine I and Fausta. In September 337, he received the "pars occidentalis" from the Empire with subjection to his brother Constans, Constantius II having the "pars orientalis". Very quickly, Constantin and Constans fall out. The eldest is eliminated in April 340.
