Historical background

CONSTANTINE II

(1/03/317-04/340) Flavius Claudius Julius Constantinus

August (9/09/337-04/340)

Born in 315 or 316, Constantine the Young received on currency the title of Caesar as his half-brother and his cousin Licinius Crispus and the title of prince of youth. Constantine II was the eldest son of Constantine I and Fausta. In September 337, he received the "pars occidentalis" the empire with his brother Constans subjection, Constantius II with the "pars orientalis". Very quickly, Constantine and Constans quarreled. The eldest was eliminated in April 340.
