Exemplaire sur un flan ovale à l’usure superficielle. Beau buste de Constantin II. Frappe un peu molle au revers. Patine marron foncé

Obverse legend : CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C.
Obverse description : Buste lauré et cuirassé de Constantin II césar à droite drapé sur l’épaule gauche, vu de trois quarts en avant (B*01).
Obverse translation : "Constantinus Junior Nobilissimus Cæsar", (Constantin le jeune très noble césar).
Reverse
Reverse legend : GLOR-IA EXERC-ITVS/ -|-// SMALA.
Reverse description : Deux soldats debout face à face, vêtus militairement, tenant chacun une haste renversée ; au milieu deux enseignes militaires.
Reverse translation : “Gloria Exercitus”, (La gloire de l'armée).
Commentary
Poids léger. Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. Cuirasse et épaulière cloutées. Ptéryges fines sous le paludamentum.

Caesar
Born in February 317 according to the most recent chronology, Constantine the Younger receives on coins the title of Caesar like his half-brother Crispus and his cousin Licinius, as well as the title of Prince of Youth. Constantine II is the eldest son of Constantine I and Fausta. In September 337, he received the "pars occidentalis" from the Empire with subjection to his brother Constans, Constantius II having the "pars orientalis". Very quickly, Constantin and Constans fall out. The eldest is eliminated in April 340.
