Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle pour ce type sur un petit flan bien centré. Très beau portrait de haut relief. Joli revers, mais de frappe un peu molle. Magnifique patine grise avec des reflets dorés. Conserve la plus grande partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Commentary
Casque à plumet ornementé et à terminaisons bouletées. Casque orné d’un fleuron. Couvre nuque décoré de quatre globules posés en triangle. Cuirasse et épaulière cloutées. Ptéryges fines et tombantes. Au revers, globe orné d’une ligne médiane et de globules.

Caesar
Born in February 317 according to the most recent chronology, Constantine the Younger receives on coins the title of Caesar like his half-brother Crispus and his cousin Licinius, as well as the title of Prince of Youth. Constantine II is the eldest son of Constantine I and Fausta. In September 337, he received the "pars occidentalis" from the Empire with subjection to his brother Constans, Constantius II having the "pars orientalis". Very quickly, Constantin and Constans fall out. The eldest is eliminated in April 340.
