Coments on the condition:

Flan très large pour ce type. Bien centré des deux côtés, avec les grènetis visibles. Portrait magnifique. Génie de petite taille, mais d’un style extraordinaire. Magnifique patine gris anthracite avec des reflets métalliques

Obverse description : Buste lauré, drapé et cuirassé de Constantin Ier auguste à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (A*2).

Obverse translation : “Imperator Cæsar Constantinus Pius Felix Augustus”, (L’empereur césar Constantin pieux heureux auguste).

Reverse

Reverse legend : GENIO - POP ROM/ (AUTEL)|-// PLG.

Reverse description : Genius (Génie) debout à gauche, coiffé du modius, le Génie porte l’himation, tenant une patère de la main droite et une corne d'abondance de la main gauche.

Reverse translation : “Genio Populi Romani”, (Au Génie du Peuple romain).

Commentary

Avec des traces d’argenture superficielle (3%). Rubans convergents : rubans descendant verticalement le long de la nuque (type 3). La cuirasse est pratiquement invisible sous le paludamentum. Un changement radical intervient dans la représentation du Génie au revers. Il est maintenant normalement revêtu de l’himation au lieu du manteau tombant sur l’épaule (paludamentum). Le flan est très large et fait plutôt penser aux folles taillés au 1/40 L. Au revers le Génie est d’un style très particulier, très fin et petit. Nous n’avons pas relevé de liaison de coin pertinente.
With traces of superficial silvering (3%). Converging ribbons: ribbons descending vertically along the nape of the neck (type 3). The cuirass is practically invisible under the paludamentum. A radical change occurs in the representation of the Genius on the reverse. He is now normally dressed in the himation instead of the mantle falling over the shoulder (paludamentum). The flan is very wide and is more reminiscent of folles cut at 1/40 L. On the reverse, the Genius is of a very particular style, very fine and small. We have not noted any relevant die bond
