Exemplaire sur un flan large et épais bien centré des deux côtés. Beau buste de Constantin Ier. Revers de style fin. Patine marron foncé avec des reflets métalliques

Obverse description : Buste lauré, drapé et cuirassé de Constantin Ier à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (A*).
Obverse translation : “Imperator Constantinus Pius Felix Augustus”, (L’empereur Constantin pieux heureux auguste).
Reverse
Reverse legend : SOLI INV-I-CTO COMITI/ S|F// SARL.
Reverse description : Sol (le Soleil) radié à demi nu, le manteau sur l’épaule, debout à droite, tournée à gauche, levant la main droite et tenant un globe de la gauche.
Reverse translation : “Soli Invicto Comiti”, (Au compagnon le Soleil invincible).
Commentary
Poids très lourd. Avec une partie de son argenture superficielle. Rubans de type 3. Ptéryges fines sous le paludamentum. P. Ferrando a recensé 67 exemplaires dont 48 en musées.

Augustus
Constantine was born in 274, son of Constance Chlore and Helena. He was named Caesar on the death of his father on July 25, 306 and was proclaimed august on December 25, 307. He married Fausta, the daughter of Maximien Hercule, who gave him five children, three of whom were augusts. The first twenty years of his reign are devoted to imposing himself as the main august against Maximian Hercules, Galerius, Maxentius, Maximin II and Licinius. He is recognized as the first Christian emperor, although baptized only on his deathbed on May 22, 337.
