Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle, extrêmement large, parfaitement centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis visibles. Portrait de toute beauté. Revers de frappe un peu molle. Patine grise avec des reflets métalliques dorés

Obverse legend : CONSTANTINVS P F AVG.
Obverse description : Buste lauré et cuirassé de Constantin Ier à droite avec pan de paludamentum, vu de trois quarts en avant (B*01).
Obverse translation : “Constantinus Pius Felix Augustus”, (Constantin pieux heureux auguste).
Reverse
Reverse legend : CONCO-R-D - MILTI/ -|*// PLN (SIC !).
Reverse description : Concordia (la Concorde) drapée, debout à gauche, tenant une enseigne dans chaque main.
Reverse translation : “Concordia Militum”, (La Concorde des soldats).
Commentary
Avec l’intégralité de son argenture superficielle. Semble complètement inédit et non répertorié avec cette faute d’orthographe au revers avec MILTI au lieu de MILIT qui n’avait jamais été recensé, mais en fait l’exemplaire du trésor de Boursies présente la même orthographe. Même coin de revers que l’exemplaire du trésor de Boursies n° 351 (Nord) (NZ 101, pl. 9, n° 75). Rubans de type 3. Cuirasse lisse ornée de quatre globules posés en croix. Épaulière cloutée. Ptéryges larges.

Seems completely unpublished and unlisted with this spelling mistake on the reverse with MILTI instead of MILIT which had never been listed, but in fact the copy from the Boursies hoard has the same spelling. Same reverse die as the copy from the Boursies hoard no. 351 (North) (NZ 101, pl. 9, no. 75). Type 3 ribbons. Smooth cuirass decorated with four globules placed in a cross. Studded shoulder guard. Large pteryges

Augustus
Constantine was born in 274, son of Constance Chlore and Helena. He was named Caesar on the death of his father on July 25, 306 and was proclaimed august on December 25, 307. He married Fausta, the daughter of Maximien Hercule, who gave him five children, three of whom were augusts. The first twenty years of his reign are devoted to imposing himself as the main august against Maximian Hercules, Galerius, Maxentius, Maximin II and Licinius. He is recognized as the first Christian emperor, although baptized only on his deathbed on May 22, 337.
