Commentary


Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. Sur cet exemplaire, nous semblons bien avoir un diadème plutôt qu’une couronne de laurier, avec au milieu la taenia.

Constantine was born in 274, son of Constantius and Helena. He was appointed Caesar to the death of his father 25 July 306 and was proclaimed august 25 December 307. He married Fausta, daughter of Maximian, who will give him five children, three august. The first twenty years of his reign are dedicated to become the main august against Maximian, Galerius, Maxentius, Maximin and Licinius II. He is recognized as the first Christian emperor, although baptized only on his deathbed 22 May 337.
