Exemplaire sur un flan ovale bien centré des deux côtés. très beau buste de Constantin Ier. Frappe un peu faible au revers. Patine grise avec des reflets métalliques

Constantine was born in 274, son of Constantius and Helena. He was appointed Caesar to the death of his father 25 July 306 and was proclaimed august 25 December 307. He married Fausta, daughter of Maximian, who will give him five children, three august. The first twenty years of his reign are dedicated to become the main august against Maximian, Galerius, Maxentius, Maximin and Licinius II. He is recognized as the first Christian emperor, although baptized only on his deathbed 22 May 337.
