Exemplaire sur un petit flan ovale, parfaitement centré au droit, un peu court au revers sur la légende. Très beau petit portrait de Constantin. Revers légèrement stylisé. Magnifique patine noire lissée

Obverse legend : IMP CONSTANTI-NVS AG.
Obverse description : Buste casqué, drapé et cuirassé de Constantin Ier à gauche, vu de trois quarts en avant, tenant un sceptre sur l'épaule (E*7).
Obverse translation : “Imperator Constantinus Augustus”, (L’empereur Constantin auguste).
Reverse
Reverse legend : VICTORIAE LAETAE PRINC PERP/ VOT/PR// PLN.
Reverse description : Deux Victoires debout, face à face, posant un bouclier sur un cippe.
Reverse translation : “Victoriæ Lætæ Principium Perpetuæ/ Vota Populi Romani", (À la victoire heureuse et durable du Prince/ Vœux du Peuple romain).
Commentary
Au revers, nous ne distinguons rien sur le cippe qui est grêle.

Augustus
Constantine was born in 274, son of Constance Chlore and Helena. He was named Caesar on the death of his father on July 25, 306 and was proclaimed august on December 25, 307. He married Fausta, the daughter of Maximien Hercule, who gave him five children, three of whom were augusts. The first twenty years of his reign are devoted to imposing himself as the main august against Maximian Hercules, Galerius, Maxentius, Maximin II and Licinius. He is recognized as the first Christian emperor, although baptized only on his deathbed on May 22, 337.
