Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle sur un flan parfaitement centré des deux côtés. Portrait magnifique de Constantin Ier. Frappe un peu molle au revers. Très jolie patine vert olive foncé

Reverse description : Étendard au bas duquel sont assis deux captifs ; celui qui est à gauche a les mains liées derrière le dos ; l'autre est dans l'attitude de la tristesse et détourne la tête.
Reverse translation : “Virtus Exerciti/ Vota Vicennalibus”, (La Virilité de l'armée/ Vœux pour le vingtième anniversaire de règne).

Casque lisse. Visière cloutée. Cuirasse et épaulière lisses. Ptéryges invisibles. Au revers, les lettres S|F pourraient se développer par “Sæculi Felicitas”, (la Félicité du siècle). Poids léger.

Augustus

Constantine was born in 274, son of Constance Chlore and Helena. He was named Caesar on the death of his father on July 25, 306 and was proclaimed august on December 25, 307. He married Fausta, the daughter of Maximien Hercule, who gave him five children, three of whom were augusts. The first twenty years of his reign are devoted to imposing himself as the main august against Maximian Hercules, Galerius, Maxentius, Maximin II and Licinius. He is recognized as the first Christian emperor, although baptized only on his deathbed on May 22, 337.
