Exemplaire sur un flan ovale, bien centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis visibles. Portrait de toute beauté, de haut relief bien venu à la frappe. Revers de style fin. Jolie patine de collection. Infimes petites marques de monture sur la tranche

Commentary


Rubans trifide aux extrémités bouletées. Diadème perlé terminé par un cabochon gemmé carré. Fibule d’attache ronde. Ptéryges fines visibles de chaque côté. Pour ce type G. Depeyrot a recensé treize solidi de la cinquième officine sur un total de 172 solidi pour les dix officines de l’atelier d’Antioche. C’est l’une des officines les plus rares. Au revers sur notre exemplaire, la lettre d’officine E est regravée sur un H pour la huitième officine.

Constantius II was born on August 7 318 Sirmium. It is high césarat 8 November 324 at the age of six years. He will reign thirty-seven years, one of the longest reigns of the fourth century. After crushing the revolt of Magnentius, it is only august with a caesar, Constance Galle, he has performed in 354. November 6, 355, he raises his cousin Julien under Caesar. He went to Rome in 357, then at Sirmium he made it his capital. Before the Sassanid danger, he leaves this region 359 and settled in Antioch. Julien was proclaimed in February august 360. Constance died 3 November 361, leaving Julien at the head of the Empire.
