Obverse description : Buste lauré, drapé et cuirassé de Constance II César à gauche, vu de trois quarts en avant (A*1).
Obverse translation : "Flavius Iulius Constantius Nobilissimus Cæsar", (Flavius Jules Constance très noble césar).

Reverse description : Porte de camp surmontée de quatre tourelles et d'une étoile, portes ouvertes.
Reverse translation : "Virtus Cæsarum", (La Virilité des césars).

Commentary


Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. Ptéryges fines et tombantes, visibles des deux côtés. Épaulière décorée. Six rangs verticaux de pierres au revers dans la porte dont le premier est décoré de meurtrières ornées de globules. Chaque linteau de porte orné de deux globules, un par un. Tourelles pointées. Étoile à huit rais. Les lettres S-F peuvent se développer par “Sæculi Felicitas” (la Félicité du siècle).
Type 3 ribbons with pelleted ends. Thin, drooping pteryga, visible on both sides. Decorated shoulder pad. Six vertical rows of stones on the back in the door, the first of which is decorated with loopholes decorated with globules. Each door lintel decorated with two globules, one by one. Pointed turrets. Caesar

Constantius II was born on August 7, 318 in Sirmium. He was raised to the cesarat on November 8, 324 at the age of six. In 337, after the death of his father, it was he who murdered or allowed most of his collateral family, descendants of Constantius Chlorus and Theodora. Only Constance Galle and Julien escape the massacre.
