Exemplaire sur un flan étroit, parfaitement centré des deux côtés. Beau portrait inhabituel. Jolie revers, de haut relief bien venu à la frappe. Patine marron foncé lissée

Obverse translation : “Dominus Noster Constantius Iunior Nobilissimus Cæsar”, (Notre seigneur Constance le jeune très noble césar).

Reverse description : L'empereur debout de face regardant à gauche, diadémé, vêtu militairement, tenant dans chaque main un labarum chrismé.
Reverse translation : “Concordia Militum”, (La Concorde des soldats).
Commentary
Poids léger. Semble complètement inédit et non répertorié avec la marque II dans le champ du revers au lieu de III normalement. Sur notre exemplaire, le dernier I semble bien absent, faiblesse de frappe ou oubli du graveur.

Caesar
Constance Galle was named Caesar on March 15, 351 to respond to the usurpation of Magnentius. He marries Constantia, Constance II's sister, and is sent to the East to stabilize the situation against the threatening Sassanids. Installed in Antioch, he is brutal and intransigent. Faced with the fear of a revolt from the East, Constantius called him back, had him arrested in Illyria and beheaded at the end of the year 354.
