CONFEDERATION OF THE RHINE

(1806-1813)

The Confederation of the Rhine is a confederation of satellite states of the French Empire between 1806 and 1813, formed by Napoleon I following his victory at Austerlitz over Austria and Russia. The Confederation later had 35 states, bringing together 15 million subjects and thus providing a significant strategic advantage to France on its eastern borders, with the provision of troops for the campaigns of the Grande Armée..
