Guillaume de Grimoard, French Benedictine and scholar, was elected pope on September 28, 1362 and consecrated on November 6 following under the name of Urban V. Founder of the University of Krakow, he tried, in 1367, to bring the Curia back to Rome , but after three years of opposition returns to Avignon. In 1368, he condemned the doctrines on poverty of the Franciscan Guillaume Foullechat. He died in Avignon on December 9, 1370.
