Ce gros est frappé sur un flan assez large et légèrement irrégulier. Monnaie présentant d’assez hauts reliefs, plus marqués au droit qu’au revers. Patine grise

COMTAT-VENAISSIN - AVIGNON - URBAN V (Guillaume de Grimoard)

Guillaume de Grimoard, French Benedictine and scholar, was elected pope on September 28, 1362 and consecrated on November 6 following under the name of Urban V. Founder of the University of Krakow, he tried, in 1367, to bring the Curia back to Rome , but after three years of opposition returns to Avignon. In 1368, he condemned the doctrines on poverty of the Franciscan Guillaume Foullechat. He died in Avignon on December 9, 1370.
