Commentary

Newspaper advertisements announce that the idea and the medals are having the greatest success. Each of those who are entitled to them wants or will want to have, among their most expensive trinkets, “their presence token” in bronze or silver, and which must naturally bear the name of its owner.” It would also seem that this type of token was reserved for anyone who remained in Paris during the siege.
