Reverse description : Commode voilé et drapé debout à gauche, tenant une patère de la main droite et sacrifiant au-dessus d’un trépied allumé et un rouleau de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Vota Decennalia Anno Suscepta Tribunicia Potestate sextum Imperator quartum/ Consul tertium Pater Patriæ”, (Vœux pour la dixième année promise revêtu de la sixième puissance tribunitienne et de la quatrième acclamation impérial consul pour la troisième fois père de la patrie).

Commentary


Rubans de type 3. Semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux. C’est la première fois que nous présentons un exemplaire à la vente.

Commodus succeeded his father Marc Aurèle, who died in Vienna on March 17, 180. He hastened to conclude a truce with the Germanic tribes and then abandoned public life. The Empire was successively governed by the prefects of the Praetorium, Perennis from 182 to 185, Cléandre from 185 to 190, who were both assassinated. Commodus suffocated on the night of December 31, 192.
