Exemplaire sur un flan large, ovale et irrégulier, échancré à l’usure importante, mais parfaitement lisible et visible. Beau portrait de Commode. Frappe faible au revers. Patine marron foncé granuleuse

Commentary


Rubans de type 3. Ptéryges fines sous le paludamentum. Semble complètement inédit et non recensé avec ce type de revers (Artémis) et ce type de légende de droit. Manque à tous les ouvrages consultés.
Type 3 ribbons. Thin pteryges under the paludamentum. Appears to be completely unpublished and unrecorded with this type of reverse (Artemis) and this type of obverse legend. Missing from all consulted works

Augustus

Commodus succeeded his father Marc Aurèle, who died in Vienna on March 17, 180. He hastened to conclude a truce with the Germanic tribes and then abandoned public life. The Empire was successively governed by the prefects of the Praetorium, Perennis from 182 to 185, Cléandre from 185 to 190, who were both assassinated. Commodus suffocated on the night of December 31, 192.
