Exemplaire sur un flan large et ovale, avec une usure prononcée en bordure périphérique de flan sur les légendes. Belle tête de Commode. Très belle représentation du revers. Jolie patine verte

C’est la deusième fois que nous présentons ce type à la vente qui semble plus rare que le ne laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux. Sur cet exemplaire, Isis semble tenir un sistre ce qui n’est pas signalé dans les ouvrages.

Commodus succeeded his father Marc Aurèle, who died in Vienna on March 17, 180. He hastened to conclude a truce with the Germanic tribes and then abandoned public life. The Empire was successively governed by the prefects of the Praetorium, Perennis from 182 to 185, Cléandre from 185 to 190, who were both assassinated. Commodus suffocated on the night of December 31, 192.
