Commentary

Jorge Eliecer Gaitan (1898-1948) est un homme politique colombien. Figure populaire très proche des classes ouvrières et moyennes, il a été assassiné alors qu’il était le candidat favori pour les élections présidentielles. Son assassinat est l’élément déclencheur d’une période de guerre civile qui dure de 1948 à 1960 appelée La Violencia.
