La bélière est poinçonnée d’une tète d’aigle.
Cet exemplaire, de forme ronde, s’ouvre et permet de placer une 20 francs or (diamètre : 22,5 mm),
L’intérieur doré présente en négatif la branche de houx,le pourtour de l’emplacement pour la pièce est cranté et inscrit des lettres “LEPSSE”, l’emplacement pour la pièce est lui décoré d’une fleur formée par des points. Trois poinçons tête d’aigle figure sur les rebords intérieurs autour de l’emplacement recevant la monnaie.

The gilded interior features a holly branch in negative relief. The edge of the coin slot is notched and inscribed with the letters \\\"LEPSSE.\\\" The coin slot itself is decorated with a flower formed by dots. Three eagle's head hallmarks appear on the inner rims around the coin slot.

From the Middle Ages until the middle of the 19th century, deniers, écus, and then the first francs and centimes, were carried in purses, alms pouches, or small leather change purses, often attached to the belt. When, in the second half of the 19th century, the Second Empire put into circulation more than one hundred million 20-franc gold coins minted with the image of Louis Napoleon III, it was necessary to create a safe and practical system for storing and individually transporting these precious coins.
