CLAUDIUS II GOTHICUS
(+270)
Consecration of Aurelian
Claudius II the Gothic died in Sirmium in 270. He was deified by Aurélien who succeeded him, opposing Quintille, brother of Claudius II, who was quickly eliminated. Half a century later, Constantine I will link his filiation to Claudius II the Gothic. He claims that his grandmother is a daughter or niece of the Emperor who was carried off by the plague..
