Commentary

Poids lourd.

Became emperor by chance, after the murder of Caligula in 41, despite physical defects, it is a great emperor and a good administrator, but it remains dominated by his wives and freedmen who hold the real power. In 50, after his marriage to his niece Agrippina, he adopted her son Nero to the detriment of Britannicus, his own son, born from the union with Messalina. He was assassinated by Agrippina who served him a plate of poisonous mushrooms..
