Le tunnel sous la Manche (en anglais, The Channel Tunnel ou Chunnel) est un tunnel ferroviaire reliant le sud-est du Royaume-Uni (Angleterre) et le nord de la France. Composé de deux tubes extérieurs parcourus par des trains, et d'un tube central de service plus petit, il est long de 50,5 kilomètres dont 38 percés sous la mer. Il est exploité par la société franco-britannique Eurotunnel.
Les travaux commencent réellement le 15 septembre 1987 du côté britannique et le 28 février 1988 du côté français. La jonction des tunnels de service a lieu le 1er décembre 19904, suivi le 22 mai 1991 par la jonction du tunnel nord et le 28 juin 1991 de la jonction dans le tunnel sud. Après encore 2 années de travaux, l'ouvrage est finalement livré par TML à Eurotunnel le 10 décembre 1993. Les travaux d'équipement, finitions et tests ont été réalisés entre 1993 et 1994..
