Commentary


Cette médaille a été décernée à la sénatrice Marie-Thérèse Goutmann (1933-2016), directrice d’école qui fut sénateur pour la Seine-Saint-Denis de 1968 à 1978. Membre du Parti communiste français (PCF), auquel elle a adhéré à l'âge de 18 ans. Elle milite activement au sein du parti, notamment au côté de Georges Marchais.
Elle sera la première femme à présider un groupe parlementaire, elle siégera également au Parlement européen avant d’être élue maire de Noisy-le-Grand, puis députée (1978-1981) et vice-président de l’Assemblée nationale en 1978.
This medal was awarded to Senator Marie-Thérèse Goutmann (1933-2016), a school principal who was a senator for Seine-Saint-Denis from 1968 to 1978. She was a member of the French Communist Party (PCF), which she joined at the age of 18. She was an active activist within the party, notably alongside Georges Marchais. She was the first woman to chair a parliamentary group and also served in the European Parliament before being elected mayor of Noisy-le-Grand, then a member of parliament (1978-1981) and vice-president of the National Assembly in 1978.
