Commentary


Le France (rebaptisé Norway en 1979, puis Blue Lady en 2006) est un paquebot transatlantique construit aux Chantiers de l'Atlantique, à Saint-Nazaire, où il fut mis à l'eau, le 11 mai 1960, en présence du président de la République française, le général de Gaulle. Il fut pendant une longue période le plus grand paquebot du monde. Il était surnommé le « petit frère du Normandie ».
Son port d'attache est alors Le Havre, et il est mis en service en janvier 1962, pour le compte de la Compagnie générale transatlantique (CGT). Luxueusement meublé, le paquebot a été décoré par plusieurs peintres de l'École de Paris, notamment par Louis Vuillermoz..
The France (renamed Norway in 1979, then Blue Lady in 2006) is a transatlantic ocean liner built at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, where it was launched on May 11, 1960, in the presence of the President of the French Republic, General de Gaulle. For a long time, it was the largest ocean liner in the world.
