Obverse description : Effigie, de face, du grand seigneur poitevin, marquis de Pérusse des Cars, véritable agronome ; nommé très jeune officier général, il fût grièvement blessé pendant la guerre de sept Ans. Il accueillit les réfugiés d’Acadie et les installa en Poitou. Signé : J.P.

Reverse description : La légende est illustrée par une carte de l’ancienne Acadie située au golfe Saint-Laurent, correspondant aujourd’hui à l’état canadien de la Nouvelle-Écosse, la grande île Cap Breton, deux autres états voisins du Canada actuel, l’île du prince Edouard, le nouveau Brunswick et une portion du Maine, aux États-Unis. Dans le champ, un vaisseau, un dauphin et la date de 1773, année du premier convoi d’Acadiens qui arrivèrent à Châtellerault au début du mois d’octobre. Signé : P. JAVAUDIN.
