Commentary

(c.f.numismag).
The medal is kept in its blue case. The obverse of the mini-medal depicts a colored cornflower (using colored resin). These two wildflowers continued to grow in the ground churned up by shells; they were often the only touch of color for soldiers in the trenches of the First World War. Since 1916, these flowers have become a true emblem of remembrance and solidarity with veterans, war victims, widows, and orphans. The reverse is the standard Monnaie de Paris design without a date.
