CILICIA - TARSUS - DATAMES SATRAP

(378-362 BC)

Datames, satrap of Cappadocia, was responsible for assisting him on behalf of Artaxerxes II (404-359 AC.). To prepare for this expedition, considerable quantities of metal were minted at Tarsus. After the death of Pharnabazes, Datames received a very important command: practically all of Asia Minor. It was not long before he revolted against the authority of the Great King. Datames died in 362 BC..
