Commentary
This token is described by Jacques de Bie in his Metallic History of France, Paris, 1636: \\\"The body represents a king fully armed, except for the august head of the imperial crown of France: he has his sword girded at his side, on the guard of which he carries his hand, holding the baton of command in the other. In the part of the air, which appears all obscured by clouds, appears as in the glimmers of lightning, a demon imitating Jupiter by the launching of some thunderbolts, which are trampled underfoot by the represented Monarch. To mark some secret conspiracy wisely prevented by the sovereign, who began to use absolutely the authority of his birth and his scepter\\\"
