Commentary
Ce buste est une preuve du génie de son auteur, Jean Duvivier. A droite de la signature D.V., dans la césure de la manche on peut lire la date 1749 en caractères minuscules. Cette date est invisible à l’œil nu mais bien visible à la loupe x10.
This bust is a testament to the genius of its creator, Jean Duvivier. To the right of the signature DV, in the caesura of the sleeve, one can read the date 1749 in tiny characters. This date is invisible to the naked eye but clearly visible with a 10x magnifying glass.

Historical background
CHAMBRE AUX DENIERS
The Chambre aux deniers is "a kind of Accounting Chamber established for the personal expenses of the king or rather of the Hôtel du roi" (Charles Préau, Study on the Chambre aux deniers du roi du XIIe au XVIe siècle). It is also called "chambre aux deniers de l'hôtel" and has been established regularly since the reign of Saint Louis. The expenses of the offices, Bakery, Échansonnerie, Kitchen, Fruiterie, Stable and Pound, are regulated by the Chamber of the deniers which was made deliver funds by the Chamber of the Treasury.
