Triens faux d’époque, frappé sur un flan en bronze assez large et irrégulier avec la pellicule d’or absente par endroits. Quelques concrétions sont à signaler au droit comme au revers. Sinon, très bel aspect de la pellicule d’or

Commentary
Cette monnaie appartient au quatrième groupe du monnayage mérovingien attribué à Chalon-sur-Saône, avec la croix reposant sur l’anneau centré.
VINTRIO est l’un des monétaires le mieux connus du monnayage d’or de Chalon-sur-Saône.
Cet exemplaire fourré a la particularité d’avoir une croisette devant le visage au droit, caractéristique spécifique à certains triens de VINTRIO monétaire.
Ce faux d’époque a une autre particularité, avec la légende CABILONNO qui se termine derrière la tête alors qu’elle commence normalement derrière la tête pour se terminer devant le visage. C’est l'inverse sur cet exemplaire.
This coin belongs to the fourth group of Merovingian coinage attributed to Chalon-sur-Saône, with the cross resting on the centered ring. VINTRIO is one of the best-known coins from the gold coinage of Chalon-sur-Saône. CHALON-SUR-SAÔNE (CABILONNUM) - Saône-et-Loire
(7th century)
The Burgundian kingdom was annexed to the Frankish kingdom after the victory of Autun in 534. Burgundy has an independent monarch until 613 at the death of Thierry II. After the assassination of Sigebert II in 613 by Clotaire II, Burgundy was incorporated into the kingdom of Neustria. Saint-Léger, bishop of Autun (616-678), was mayor of the Palace. The royal government is ensured by the palace which is more an institution than a place. There are three capitals: Paris (Neustria), Metz (Austrasia) and Chalon-sur-Saône (Burgundy). There is still a palace that continues to function after Clotaire II restored unity. The palace is a symbol of the autonomy of the kingdom. Clotaire II governs from Paris but there is still a palace in Metz and Chalon. The gold coinage of Chalon-sur-Saône was certainly the most abundant of the Merovingian period..
