Commentary
Although this type of obverse head is similar to other staters, particularly with the head of Helios on the reverse, no other trident coin (see New Atlas series 1241) appears to have been published with an Apollonian profile of this style. This stater of a very rare type comes from a hoard discovered long ago and reported to the DRAC; it will be included in a forthcoming publication. It comes from the same obverse die as No. 76 of the Rennes auction of January 20, 2020 (with the head of Helios), as well as No. 34 of the iNumis 49 sale (with the trident).
