Petite monnaie fourrée, mais parfaitement identifiable avec une tête un peu confuse mais un très beau bouclier. Surface hétérogène, entre pellicule d’argent et bronze oxydé

Obverse description : Tête d’Apollon (?) à droite, la chevelure en grosses mèches bouclées.

Reverse description : Cheval au pas, à gauche ; au-dessus de la croupe, un petit bouclier avec l’umbo marqué d’un globule étiré.

Commentary

L’exemplaire n° 1276 de MONNAIES 36 a une tête à gauche et non pas à droite, comme c’est le cas sur cette monnaie.
Ces monnaies, classées en type IV “au bouclier” de la série 1088 “fractions en argent des peuples centraux” semblent pouvoir être mises en relation avec les monnaies de la série 1286 “les fractions en argent des peuples de l’ouest” et particulièrement avec les types I et II ; les provenances nous semblent être les mêmes. Pour D. Nash, toutes ces monnaies seraient classées dans le " West Berry Silver Horseman Group".
Coins 36 specimen No. 1276 has a head on the left and not on the right, as is the case on this coin. These coins, classified as type IV “with a shield” of series 1088 “silver fractions of the central peoples” seem to be related to the coins of series 1286 “silver fractions of the western peoples” and particularly to types I and II; the provenances seem to be the same. For D. Nash, all these coins would be classified in the “West Berry Silver Horseman Group”
