Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Obverse description : Fines lignes entremêlées, formant une sorte de flocon ; zone piquetée en creux.

Reverse

Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Reverse description : Cheval bondissant à gauche, surmonté par un aurige plutôt qu’une victoire (?) ; un cordon perlé descend de la bouche du cheval et un triskèle entre ses jambe.

Commentary

Les drachmes dites aux lignes entremêlées étaient encore, il n’y a pas si longtemps complètement inconnues... L’avers est interprété comme dérivant de Rhoda. Elles sont classées par facilité dans le type V de la série 1244 “types composites (or et argent)” du Nouvel Atlas. Malheureusement, faute de provenances, l’attribution de cette série reste très incertaine.
The so-called drachmas with intertwined lines were still, not so long ago, completely unknown... The obverse is interpreted as deriving from Rhoda. They are classified for ease in type V of series 1244 “composite types (gold and silver)” of the New Atlas. Unfortunately, due to lack of provenance, the attribution of this series remains very uncertain.
