Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle pour ce type de monnayage sur un flan ovale parfaitement centré. Magnifique tête de Cérès richement ornementée. Très joli revers de style fin. Belle patine de collection avec des reflets dorés. Conserve l’intégralité de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Commentary


Pour ce type, M. Crawford a relevé une estimation de 63 coins de droit et de 79 coins de revers. Au droit, sur notre exemplaire, nous avons un G pointé placé derrière la tête de Cérès, et au revers un P pointé placé au-dessus des bœufs.

During his career, Marius was consul seven times: in 107, 104, 103, 102, 101, 100 BC and finally in 86 BC, the year of his death. In 102 Marius crushed the Teutonic near Aix-en-Provence (Aquae Sextiae). Quintus Catulus Lutatius's colleague Marius consulate in 102 BC and Marius defeated the Cimbri at Vercelli, "Vercellae" in 101 BC, ending the danger which threatened the barbaric and Provincia Rome.
