Reverse description : Jupiter, nu, le manteau sur l'épaule gauche, debout à gauche, tenant une victoriola de la main droite et de la gauche un sceptre long ; à ses pieds, un aigle à gauche détournant la tête à droite.
Reverse translation : “Iovi Victori”, (À Jupiter victorieux).

Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. Cuirasse et épaulière cloutée. Ptéryges larges.

CARUS

(09/282-07/283)

Carus is proclaimed in Rhaetia at the end of August 282. Probus is assassinated in Sirmium. Carus entrusts the rank of Caesar to his eldest son Carin at the end of October, then to his other son, Numérien, in December. Carus named his august sons in March 283. In the spring of 283, he began a brilliant campaign against the Sassanids, took Ctesiphon, their capital, but was struck down by lightning in July 283. Numerian, who accompanied him, was charged with bringing back the troops.
