Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle sur un flan large parfaitement centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis visibles. Beau portrait de Carus taillé à la serpe. Joli revers. Patine gris métallique avec des reflets dorés. Conserve la plus grande partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Poids lourd. Avec l’intégralité de son argenture superficielle. Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. Cuirasse et épaulière cloutées. Ptéryges larges.

CARUS

(09/282-07/283)

Carus is proclaimed in Rhaetia at the end of August 282. Probus is assassinated in Sirmium. Carus entrusts the rank of Caesar to his eldest son Carin at the end of October, then to his other son, Numérien, in December. Carus named his august sons in March 283. In the spring of 283, he began a brilliant campaign against the Sassanids, took Ctesiphon, their capital, but was struck down by lightning in July 283. Numerian, who accompanied him, was charged with bringing back the troops.
