Commentary

Pour ce type, M. Crawford a relevé une estimation de 186 coins de droit et de 207 coins de revers. Ce type semble en fait plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux.
For this type, Mr. Crawford noted an estimate of 186 obverse dies and 207 reverse dies. This type actually appears to be rarer than general works suggest.

Historical background

CARISIA

(46 BC)

The monetary college of 46 BC includes three monetary: Manius Cordus Rufus, Titus Carisius and Caius Considius Pætus. Titus Carisius exalts Caesar's origins in his monetary iconography and participates in the celebration of Caesar's quadruple triumph that year. Vercingetorix, after having participated in the triumph of the imperator, is strangled at the Mamertine. The career of Titus Carisius is poorly known outside of his monetary triumvirate.
