Coments on the condition:
Exemplaire sur un petit flan parfaitement centré des deux côtés, excepté sur la légende de revers. Portrait de toute beauté. Frappe un peu molle au revers bien que de style très fin. Une très jolie patine de collection ancienne avec des reflets mordorés recouvre l’exemplaire

CARIA - SATRAPS OF CARIA - PIXODARUS

(340-334 BC)

Pixodare, the last son of Hekatomnos, succeeded the widow of Hidrieus, Ada (344-340 BC.). He was the only satrap in Caria to mint gold and behave like the high King. He was eliminated in 334 BC. The following year, Rhoontopates, the last satrap of Caria, was deposed by Alexander the Great who seized Halicarnassus.
