CARIA - STRATONICEA

(3rd - 2nd century BC)

Stratonicée was founded by Antiochus Ier Soter who gave the name of his wife to the city. The city located about fifty kilometers from Alabanda was near the sources of Marsyas. The city was emancipated from Rhodian rule after 168 BC and the Macedonian defeat. The city was important until the imperial period.
