Exemplaire sur un flan large, bien centré des deux côtés. Beau buste juvénile de Caracalla. Revers bien venu à la frappe. Patine vert clair

Obverse description : Buste lauré et cuirassé de Caracalla à droite, drapé sur l’épaule gauche, vu de trois quarts en avant (B*01).
Obverse translation : “Imperator Cæsar Marcus Aurelius Antoninus”, (L’empereur césar MarcuMarc Aurèle Antonin).

Reverse legend : MVNICI - STOBI.
Reverse description : Victoire marchant à gauche, tenant une couronne de la main droite et une palme de la gauche.
Reverse translation : “Municipium Stobensium”, (Ville de Stobi).

Commentary


Cette variante de légende ne semble pas recensé. Manque aux ouvrages consultés. Sur cet exemplaire, Caracalla n’est pas encore barbu.

Augustus

After Geta's assassination, Caracalla decreed the "damnatio memoriæ" of his brother. The "Constitution Antoniniana" was promulgated in 212. All the inhabitants of the Empire became Roman citizens. The following year he undertook a campaign in Germania and won numerous victories over the Germans, Iapyges and Goths. He received the title of "Germanicus". The end of the reign was marked in 215 by the Monetary Reform and the creation of the Antoninianus. Caracalla begins a final campaign against the Parthians. He is assassinated after having celebrated his vicennalia.
