Historical background

CARACALLA and GETA

Caracalla and Géta, born in 188 and 189 are the two sons of Septimius Severus and Julia Domna. The two brothers did not get along and were jealous of each other to the despair of their parents. After the death of Septimius Severus (February 4, 211) and their return to Rome, the confrontation between the two brothers became inevitable. It ended with the assassination of the younger brother by his eldest in the arms of their mother. A major purge ensued.
