Exemplaire sur un flan irrégulier et ovale, bien centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis visible. Très beau portrait de Caracalla. Revers de haut relief. Recouvert d’une jolie patine de collection ancienne avec des reflets dorés. Conserve une partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Reverse description : Jupiter (Victor) nu jusqu'à la ceinture, assis à gauche, tenant une patère de la main droite et un long sceptre vertical de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Pontifex Maximus Tribunicia Potestate vicesimum Consul quartum Pater Patriæ”, (Grand pontife revêtu de la vingtième puissance tribunitienne consul pour la quatrième fois père de la patrie).
Commentary
Rubans de type 2. Ce type de denier semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux.

Augustus
After Geta's assassination, Caracalla decreed the "damnatio memoriæ" of his brother. The "Constitution Antoniniana" was promulgated in 212. All the inhabitants of the Empire became Roman citizens. The following year he undertook a campaign in Germania and won numerous victories over the Germans, Iapyges and Goths. He received the title of "Germanicus". The end of the reign was marked in 215 by the Monetary Reform and the creation of the Antoninianus. Caracalla begins a final campaign against the Parthians. He is assassinated after having celebrated his vicennalia.
