Commentary
La construction d'un canal partant de Rive-de-Giers pour aller à Givors fut concédée le 6 septembre 1761par ordonnance Royale au sieur François Zacharie, maître horloger à Lyon. Il mourut en 1768 sans terminer les travaux. C'est son fils, Guillaume, qui les termina en 1780, début de l'exploitation. Frappe médaille.
