Commentary

La construction d'un canal partant de Rive-de-Giers pour aller à Givors fut concédée le 6 septembre 1761par ordonnance Royale au sieur François Zacharie, maître horloger à Lyon. Il mourut en 1768 sans terminer les travaux. C'est son fils, Guillaume, qui les termina en 1780, début de l'exploitation. Frappe médaille.
The construction of a canal from Rive-de-Giers to Givors was granted on September 6, 1761 by Royal Ordinance to Mr. François Zacharie, master clockmaker in Lyon. He died in 1768 without completing the work. It was his son, Guillaume, who completed it in 1780, the start of operations. Medal strike
