Depuis 1920, le coquelicot (en anglais poppy) est la fleur du souvenir pour les soldats britanniques et de l’Empire tombés durant la première guerre mondiale sur les champs de batailles des Flandres. C’est l’équivalent de la fleur de bleuet choisie en France pour commémorer les soldats de la première guerre mondiale..
