Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Obverse description : Épée sacrée posée sur deux coupes, surmontée de la couronne royale cambodgienne. Des rameaux partent de la coupe inférieure. Le tout est doré sur fond d’émail bleu, cerclé d’un émail rouge.

Reverse

Reverse legend : LISSE.

Tête de sanglier sous la couronne à 12 heures, sur un des rayons de l’étoile.

Fondé le 8 février 1864 par le Roi Norodom I°, cet Ordre devait récompenser les services Civils et Militaires. Il devint Ordre Colonial entre 1896 et 1948. Le centre du médaillon figure les armes royales. Cet Ordre comporte 5 classes : Grand-Croix, Grand-Officier, Commandeur, Officier et Chevalier. On distingue un 1° modèle, plus simple, qui ne porte pas de couronne. D'origine, le ruban est rouge à liserés verts sur les côtés.

Cependant, devenu Ordre Colonial en 1896, le ruban devint blanc à lisérés oranges (décret du 05/12/1899) car la décoration, quand elle était portée à la boutonnière, pouvait être confondue avec la Légion d'Honneur. Par décret du 25/08/1948, redevenu Ordre National Cambodgien, cet Ordre retrouva son ruban d'origine. Il était attribué aux Français qui pouvaient justifier d'un minimum de 9 années de présence au Cambodge.

Abandonné par les Khmers Rouges en 1975, l'Ordre fut rétabli par Décret Royal du 5 octobre 1995. (cf. http://semon.fr/DECORATIONS_CAMBODGE.htm).

However, having become a Colonial Order in 1896, the ribbon became white with orange edges (decree of 05/12/1899) because the decoration, when worn in the buttonhole, could be confused with the Legion of Honour. It was awarded to French people who could prove a minimum of 9 years of presence in Cambodia..
