Monnaie centrée présentant un superbe portrait d’Apollon avec une stemna complète. Joli revers. Patine grise

Obverse description : Tête laurée d'Apollon à droite ; sous le menton, marque de valeur (XVI) ; derrière la tête, un point et une corne d’abondance ; le tout entouré de la stemma (couronne de laine).

Reverse description : Cavalier nu galopant à gauche, tenant une palme de la main droite ; au-dessus, une étoile et un point.

Commentary


M. Crawford a relevé une estimation totale de 864 coins de droit et de 1080 coins de revers correspondant à une production globale comprise entre deux et quatre millions de deniers pour l’ensemble des variétés. Ce type avec la tête ceinte de la stemma semble plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux.
